We follow the New Mexico Early Learning Guidelines when developing our curriculum, and offer a wide variety of activities.
The children will participate in art, science, cooking, music, library, etc. on a daily basis.

Infant Room
An infant’s day would include music, reading, bubbles, tummy time, and more to ensure physical and intellectual development.

Toddlers Room
This room's curriculum has an emphasis on language and physical development. Their day would include art, music, shapes, circle time, etc.

Preschool room
Learn through themes, arts & crafts, cooking, science, numbers, letters, shapes, cutting skills and all other areas of life skills readiness. A solid foundation!

School age room
Peer interaction, field trips and special events will help to encourage strong social skills. Cooking, science, arts & crafts, and many other activities.

Our Team of Teachers

Erika Bernal
I’m Erika Bernal, director of Sunnyside Learning Academy, born in Chihuahua, living in Albuquerque for 23 years.
Graduated from Rio Grande High School (2007), paused studies, resumed after marriage and motherhood.
Studied psychology briefly and completed my CDC. Currently finishing my associate and aiming for a psychology degree. I have four years' childcare experience and strive to provide families with exceptional experiences.

Breanna Aguilar
Hello my name is Breanna Aguilar I am 29 years old I was Born in Albuquerque New Mexico.
I am an assistant Director for Sunnyside learning academy. I am currently enrolled in collage for my Child Development Certificate and soon after I will follow through with my associate in Early Childhood Development.
have almost 4 years as an early childhood educator. I assist in planning, implementing and evaluating the program and curriculum ensuring it meets the needs of the children and aligns with the center's goals.

Fernanda Rivas
I am Fernanda Rivas, an infant classroom teacher at Sunnyside since January 2024.
I have a CNM child development certification and am also a nurse.
I enjoy getting to know children, discovering their personalities, and helping them grow.
It’s rewarding when former students greet me warmly.
For me, this center is a home, and we are a big family.

Jeidy Anacona
I’m Jeidy Viviana Anacona Omen, 24 years old, with 5 years of experience caring for children aged 0 to 4.
I studied in Colombia: Technical Training in Early Childhood, specialization in Special Education, and three semesters of Psychology at UNAD University.
Currently, I’m at Sunnyside, a wonderful learning experience. I’m enrolled in NMLES courses and plan to achieve my associate degree.

Yazmin Delgado
I’m Yazmin Delgado, 24 years old, born in Mexico, living in the U.S. since age 4. Married with a 4-year-old son.
I enjoy reading, music, and always dreamed of becoming a teacher. I have eight months of childcare experience with kids aged 4 weeks to 5 years.
Currently, I teach Pre-K at Sunnyside. In May 2025, I received my CDC certificate and continue studying towards my associate degree. My goal is to be an outstanding teacher.

Esperanza León
I’m Esperanza León, 26, working with children for the second time at daycare; currently, I teach Pre-K.
I have three children and live in New Mexico.
I enjoy crafting, love red aguachiles and breaded sushi, mangoes, and ice cream.
I finished my studies in Mexico and want to complete university. I enjoy continuous learning for professional growth.
Though shy at first, I love giving my best and helping others

Verónica Porras
I’m Verónica Porras, 38, originally from Chihuahua, living in the U.S. for 20 years. I have four children.
Currently, I’m a cook at Sunnyside, which I greatly enjoy because children love my food. Initially, I didn't think I had the patience for childcare, but greeting and receiving affection from kids makes me happy.
I’m grateful for opportunities and plan further education.

Magdalena Dozal
I’m Magdalena Dozal, with 4 years in childcare, including 2 years at Sunnyside Learning Academy, primarily with babies and toddlers. I love seeing children learn through play and exploration.
Certified by the CDC, I enjoy planning educational and fun activities. I create safe environments for free expression.
Currently, I'm pursuing my associate degree to better support families.

Daniela Castañeda
I'm Daniela Castañeda, teaching the “Two’s” classroom at Sunnyside Learning Academy since 2024.
I'm obtaining my child development certification from CNM. I have a Nursing degree and a certification in childhood trauma management.
Teaching children fills me with joy and pride, knowing I influence their curiosity positively. Their affection confirms my calling.

Before any child may participate in this program the parent must complete and return the forms listed below. We must have these forms fully completed and, in our possession, before we can accept the responsibility of caring for your child. No exceptions!

It is very important that you complete these forms thoroughly to help us meet your child’s needs.
Children, Youth and Families of NM require that each child have up to date immunizations. Records must be turned in to the center each time your child receives an immunization.
